We Just Sold Our Boat!

February 16, 2018

Well… today we closed the sale on our first boat (and 1st home) the Wiffersnapper.

😳☹️💔🙌💃🎉 . Yes, those are my emotional stages summed up in a few emojis. Will on the other hand isn’t the slightest bit of sad, as you can tell…

Bittersweet Goodbye

Selling your boat/home is so bittersweet! We had so many great memories onboard the snapper in the year and half that we owned her. From the wild idea purchase, to the renovation, to all of the mechanical issues, the hurricanes, the great people we’ve met, and the numerous sunset dinners we’ve enjoyed on the top deck… Wiffersnapp has been a fabulous first home. ❤🏠

But just like all other life transitions, we’re ready for bigger and better things! Well, maybe smaller and better things. I’m hoping to keep our next boat in the 40-49ft range if I can convince Will that bigger is not always better in this case.

Under Contract In Just 6 Weeks!

Yup. We put our 1988 Bluewater Coastal Cruiser on the market in December, and by mid-January we already had a million-and-a-half showings, a couple bogus verbal offers, and then our first legit offer on paper for FULL PRICE. Say whhhaa??

Everything about the deal was “too good to be true” which left us a little hesitant to celebrate. In fact, even the day of closing we were crossing our fingers and saying our prayers that everything would go smoothly – ya know, since the buyers had not actually seen the boat yet.

Sight-Unseen

That’s right. Today was the first time the buyers saw the boat in person, and also the day they took ownership! How crazy is that? But wait there’s more, they’re from California, and are shipping all 51+ feet of Wiffersnapper to Cali via 18-wheeler truck on LAND. Yes, that’s a thing. An expensive shipping method, but probably better than the fuel and maintenance costs it would take to get ol’ Wiffersnapp to the other side of the country by water.

Cali-Girl!

It all started in Missouri, where Bluewater’s are manufactured. From there, our Bluewater came to Florida, did a few tours to the Bahamas, enjoyed a number of years here in SWFL, and now she’s headed for the west coast! What a rough life right?

The new owners plan to rename her “Trinny Time,” since the wife is from Trindad and Tobago and the expression for “Island Time” there is “Trinny Time.” I think that’s pretty cool, and I believe our beloved Wiffersnapper will be in good hands, which makes me feel 100x better about the sale.

So there you have it. We are officially homeless boat seekers, bumming a room from our best friends on the main land. And LIFE IS GOOD. On to the next adventure! Stay tuned…
