DEMOLITION BEGINS!

February 19, 2023

Step One: Remove the ambulance stripes and stickers.

Sounds easy enough right? We figured it would take two days to get the vinyl decals removed. Two weeks later we realized “ambo work” was going to closely resemble “boat work” in that it takes twice as long as you think it will and is twice as hard as you think it’ll be – ha!

The exterior stickers had been baking in the Florida sun for at least 12 years, which should have been our first clue as to how hard they would be to remove. We tried many different methods and even ordered a fancy 3M eraser wheel that attaches to our impact gun. Nothing was “easy”.

Step Two: Demo The Interior

Well, we actually worked on stickers and the interior demo simultaneously as breaks were needed from long hours of heating, peeling, scraping, and goo-goning the vinyl stickers and adhesive. We saved the majority of the scrap material that we took out of the inside for potential future usage, and let the metal scrap yard haulers have the rest.

In the video above, we say goodbye to the boat after selling it, and take the ambo to its temporary home for the start of the conversion process. Thanks for following along on our journey!
